2010 Ford Edge First Drive

  • 2010 Ford Edge Introduction

  • 2010 Ford Edge Exterior

  • 2010 Ford Edge Interior

  • 2010 Ford Edge Performance

  • 2010 Ford Edge Summary

As popular as the mid-size crossover segment has been over the last decade, it’s surprising to note that Ford the Ford Edge has sold more than 400,000 units which Ford claims is more than any other mid-size crossover during that period, and the new styling, technology and powertrain options should help the Edge continue this impressive trend. While it’s not hard to see the physical changes that the Ford Edge has undergone for 2011, but it’s what isn’t visible that really helps to make the new Edge better in just about every way possible. It’s hard to expect excitement from a mid-size crossover, but the new Edge delivers with improvement in just about every category including three new or updated engines and some advanced cabin tech such as the MyFord Touch system.

The 2011 Ford Edge is in one of the most competitive new-car markets, but the new styling and upgraded technology should help it remain one of the top choices in this class. In addition to obvious mid-size crossovers like the Chevrolet Equinox, Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Murano, the Edge also has new rivals to compete with such as the Toyota Venza and Honda Accord Crosstour.

Pros –

  • More powerful engine for Sport model

  • Updated interior and exterior styling

  • Optional MyFord Touch

Cons –

  • No third row option

  • Not launching with EcoBoost engine

  • Ford’s pricing may be too close ...
